چکیده
Abstract Aims After superficial parotidectomy, the incidence of facial nerve injury, for pleomorphic adenoma parotid gland, remains topic interest despite different techniques to identify during surgery. We aim evaluate injury in patients undergoing parotidectomy absence conductor. Methods calculating sample size, 101 irrespective age and gender were included this cross-sectional study at Department Surgery, nine years, from 1st January 2012. The primary outcome was temporary or permanent with a follow-up period 12 months. data calculated using SPSS version 23, where mean standard deviation continuous variables, frequencies categorical data. Results Facial evident 16/101 (15.8%) patients. Among these, main truck involved 6(5.9%); loss function 4(4.0%) while 2(2.0%). Most common branch affected marginal mandibular (6, 5.9%), which had loss. Additionally, four (4.0%) developed salivary fistula whereas (2%) Frey’s syndrome. Conclusion should be clearly explained, consent, patient as medicolegal purpose. Where stimulator is not available, identification proposed anatomical landmarks allows safe recognition nerve.
